Did I blow my amp?

I'm sorry, I forgot that the source of the mosfets are usually directly grounded.

Correction: If there is no diode to protect from this, you go through the freewheeling diode inside of the mosfets from what was the ground to 12V, with a dead short. Without that diode, you can also kill all the pre-SMPS supply regulated ICs.

If you did not have a fuse, you would have burnt stuff. Everywhere.

Alright well first off this was my Alpine amp not the Orion thank god. The fuse on the power looks fine and i am going to wait till tommorow to get into the amps fuses. I heard two kind of crack/popping noises so i am thinking it was the two fuses.

1) You used the term FYI...nuff said.

2) You are from md and probably wear cargo shorts and american eagle/abercrombie and think its dank sh!t.

3) You took the time out to post you are gay.

Lets look at who the real faq is here.

I think you just blew mosfets personally. Or fuses, but I have not heard of internal fuses unless it's a tiny amp. :p
I just meant the fuses on the amp by internal. Also, look at US amps because they have internal fuses on massive amps...

Uhmm are mosfets hard to replace? Or even worth it? I could probably get a better amp for cheap
Depending on what you need to replace in an Alpine.... it can be easy or a royal pain in the ***. Fets should be easy to replace but replacing those microscopic resistors sucks!

I did the same thing once and saw smoke coming from the amp. I replaced the fuses on the amp and on the power line and it still works. It sounds like I'm getting the same amount of power as before, but I guess I'll never know. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif
