Just wanted to get some input on this sub. I just recently purchase it and wanted to know if I should go with a sealed or vented enclosure. This is one 15" any iput would be greatly appreciated. I am going to have this sub in my 99 gmc yukon so I have plenty of space in the rear.

Thanks,

Jay

i have the 12 and I love it. Make sure you have at least 1000w rms, if not 12-1500 for it. If you have the room, go ported, but don't use the rec box from the website. Port it low. Don't quote me, but 3 cubes net ported to 30hz or so would probably make you pretty happy

Thanks I'm running d3 12 now with 800 rms to both in a vented box and it sounds great. I was told that the sub would not be good in a vented ported style from a DA csr. He told me to go enclosed becuase of the sub. I want to go vented on these sub but not sure if it will be okay for it.

Any dimensions on the 3 cu 30hz?

Initially I was going to go with 4 cu and 35 hz

I heard one 15" TDX D9 in a hatchback car vented and it was freaking amazing. It was the best sounding deep and powerful bass I have ever heard. I think it was powered by a Diamond Audio D6 1500.1. Like was aready said you are going to need at least 1200rms to feed that thing. Also that sub takes a while to break in. So give it awhile before you are critical.

That sub does not get much talk but it is one of the best combinations of SQ/SPL I have heard.

Thanks all, lots of input here now I will be doing some measurements sometime this week and get my box started hopefully this weekend.

Keep the info coming never to much to obtain!

A friend put my D9 15" Dual 2 ohm in a sealed box with my concept 2400a amp as a temporary set-up. The sub pounds and sounds great. Had tools jumping off the roof. Sealed sounds great and hits hard. We all were surprised by it.

If I had to do it over again I'd make the box a bit smaller. It's 3^3 and if you read up on the sub they don't recommend ported for the 15. I haven't tried it so I don't know. and they were designed for sql in small enclosures. It was bottoming out when we really pushed it.

Yeah I called the DA csr and he told me that a ported box is not recommended. He also said that 3 cu ft is the recommended size for the sealed enclosure. However I was thinking it would be okay in a ported enclosure also.

Got the box built and running it with my 800 watts mono block amp. Sounds real good. I am going to run the wires for my 1200 watt amp this weekend. Need to get an amp rack built for it also. Pictures will follow.

if the box is too big why dont you either screw a piece of wood or something in the box to take up space, thus creating a lower amount of cu ft within the box? alot cheaper than making a whole new box
