Diamond Amps, eBay or shop?

Hey guys, I have one 12d6d4, I was planning on running it off of an d3800.1 from my local shop ($399.99) I was also going to have them install it and all of that jazz, probabbly a grand total of $600....

Then I started to think, I could buy a d6100.1 off of eBay and power two 12's (I would exchange my 12d6d4 for a 12d6d2 and buy another d2). The amp from eBay would be around $325 shipped, and the extra 12 would be another $200. Then all of my wires and s***, grand total of about $600. If I installed it myself.

What I am getting at is how often do these amps fail? I would only really be buying it from my shop to get the 3 year warrenty. If I bought it on eBay, I would get maybe a 90 day warrenty.

I have no problem with learning to install this stuff, but I want to know if you guys think that the amps will be fine, and if I shouldnt worry about a warrenty.

THANKS!

Jake

I own about 6 diamond amps, all bought off ebay and all

100% flawless.....It helps to buy from a good ebay seller though.

They are about half price on Ebay, even if they break you still have money

left over for another amp.

OR

you can buy an internet brand like eD,he makes nice amps and

offers a 3 year warrenty online...

Cool, thanks guys. On another thought I could also just buy the d3800.1 for like $220 shipped.

Is inaudio a good seller?

Oh and another question, completely off topic, can a capacitor work with more then one amp?

Thanks again guys...

If you mean indoaudio, then you might want to do some homework before you buy from that eBay seller (or any seller, for that matter).

Don't run a capacitor. They put so much stress on an electrical system it's not even worth it. Determine if your current alternator can supply enough current to the amps. Don't forget about the "big 3".

Yes, I ment indoaudio. He is deffinetly legit, 52K+ feedback at 98% positive. Also he is the only one currently selling a t D3800.1 on eBay.

I will probabbly end up doing the big three. Thanks guys all of my questions are answered here, it is time for me to search the electrical/wiring threads.

Thanks again.

as long as you dont do anything stupid, you should be fine. my friend fried my diamond amp by messing with the wires when the amp was still on. luckily i bought it from the shop. the owner of the shop manage to get me a replacement amp.

Please don't give your money to Indoaudio. You need to be careful buying on ebay. Feedback ratings don't mean shit!

I'll give you a tip. (Here's what I do):

Send a seller a message asking a specific question about the item, such as "What does the birthsheet read on the Diamond amp?" If you get a quick AND specific answer related to your question, then they're probably cool.

However, if they reply with some generic, unrelated rehearsed bullshit like "Yep. I'll take care of it right away", BEWARE

@ cpierce, Yes they do come with a lifetime warrenty when installed by the shop, I just found this out today.

@ hardhitta, it is to late, I all ready gave my money to that fool. Its okay though, I'll get the amp eventually, even if it takes a month. If its not brand new, etc, etc. I can return it and get my money back...

I got the D3800.1 and some kicker wires. I will be building the box shortly, I'll let you guys know how it goes...

Thanks again. I dont know how you do it on this forum but some mods can lock this thread if they want to clean up.

Thanks!

Thats what I thought too, but I went to Magnolia today and a sales guy there told me their amps have lifetime warrentys.

He could have been wrong though.
