What determines how much port area a certain subwoofer needs? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/help.gif.cee8f684da1ba626487a8bc51152e1ec.gif
port area shouldn't have as much to do with box volume as the driver's you're using. for most 12" driver's i think 25 sq in of port is considered safe. also remember that rounded edges (aeroports) will lower air speed, but changing the dimensions of the port will increase air speed (skinny ports = bad). you can try downloading winisd, and it will calculate port air velocity for your specific driver/box/port.
