I am considering the Tang Band woofer below:

What is the proper box size? I am not good with reading specs and determining proper box size, but I have heard great things about this sub.

Specifications: Power Handling: 120 watts RMS/240 watts max *VCdia: 3" *Impedance: 4 ohms *Re: 3.2 ohms *Frequency range: 25-400 Hz *Fs: 25 Hz *SPL: 88 dB 2.83V/1m *Vas: 1.65 cu. ft. *Qms: 2.71 *Qes: .32 *Qts: .29 *Xmax 9.5 mm *

well with a Qts of 0.29 it looks well suited for a ported box. i would say a 1 cf net box would be close to what they suggest but i don't know the exact formula for calculating that...sorry

your best bet is to just look at the manufacturer recommended enclosure types\sizes. there should be a downloadable PDF file that will give you any\all info on that. the PDF for these however does not list these things which sucks, but here is the link anyway-

this sub is actually the same speaker as the elemental designs SQ10 - they copied tangband (whod of thought) and their recommendations are listed here;

http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?t=2&products_id=106

there are better ways to figure it out yourself, but it requires lots of reading and learning how speakers are built and how they react. so if you dont want to learn much, just go by recommended options, but nothing says you cant experiment. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks for the link. I came in here to bump this thread...I guess my notifications are screwed up.

I see that the eD is cheaper, but I remember reading about eD um...borrowing...some design ideas from TB. I'll spend the extra $8 to support the innovator.

i would do the same //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

but the box recommendations should still work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

good luck!
