Dell laptops.. Worth the price...

When you get the computer, it'll come with a manual on how to reformat the computer.
Basically it'll remove every unnecessary program that you have on your computer. You won't have to remove them separately because thats what the reformat will do for you.

It's exactly like installing a new OS.

So should i just wait til january for vista to come out?

That wasn't what I was really trying to say but if you want then you can as I am betting that prices will be lower by then and you won't have to but Vista separately adding to the costs. In fact, you really don't even have to wait. A free version of Vista is already out but it expires in the middle of 2007. So if you are planning to get Vista as soon as it gets out then just install this "trial" version of Vista.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx

What you wanted, Core 2 Duo, 1 GB Ram and 80 GB can be easily had with a Dell e1505 for 1k.

There a couple coupons available for this model; Check out this page for current deals, especially the one for $200 off notebooks over $999.

Remember he did say he was computer retarded or something like that.

If you are not very proficient with pc's I wouldnt recommend using Beta's or trial versions of an operating system.

Also, If you get a 80g HD I wouldnt worry about the extra crap on there, it's really not that big of a deal, but neither is wiping the HD and starting fresh.

IMO

Remember, buy as much computer as you can afford. If you can afford the Duo, then get it. > Resale also.

Love my Dell b130.

U need the ext. warranty (on dell's) if only for peace of mind.

And if you just need it for internet only puroses You listed, then any laptop will do.

I have a cheap gateway M3215 for internet only and my music. It was $430 bucks two years ago and is still fine for the same purposes as I originally bought it for. Now that same computer is still under$500.
If you get a Dell, I would consider paying the extra $ for the extended warranty. Not sure how much, but I know Dell's top of the line warranty covers EVERYTHING, except "ball point hammer marks, and tire tracks" Can't beat that, FTW.

Ok well since im going to be using it for more than i thought, im probably spend around 1500 and just get it all done with.. Im down to 2 now .. either the e1705 or a toshiba i saw at best buy for $1449.. ill find the model #
