Decent cheap speaker setup for my '89 Saab 900. Prefer stock bolt-on fitment

Indeed, if the sub did sound like it was coming from a different location and was overpowering your fronts, then you were doing it wrong. And it's strongly suggested to invest your time and money into the front-stage, because you can't really hear the rear speakers, and it sound stupid having the sound coming from behind you. Dayton makes fine subs, I'm sure you'll be pleased. There's a lot of quality low-powered options, so I think you'll be fine with any of those. And a sealed enclosure from wherever would likely be fine with that power. Just make sure you have adequate air-space.

should have looked first. Looks like I am already set. I am looking at "8 subs on parts express to be powered with the 120 watt sub channel from the amp. There is a dayton for like $30, and a wedge shaped enclosure from ebay for about $20. would this work okay for a little extra mid bass?

sure, that would work fine if properly placed in a corner. it would give you a nice midbass/bass bump without taking up a lot of space.

Cool, setup sounds pretty good. People complain about the highs being too sharp and piercing with those Focals. I EQed the high end down a little and they sound great at high volume (obviously no bass tones). My old rockford fosgate punch 15" sounds pretty good hooked up to that amp even if it is only getting 120 watts. Just got all the parts for the Dayton 8". Do I want the Dayton wired as a 16 ohm or a 4 ohm? I am assuming 4.. Took a listen before mounting and whatnot. Not bad. Not as boomy as the R.F. but the mids are more pronounced and there is still enough boom for me. Too much low and not enough midbass was the problem before anyway. So for just about every application aside from when it's 420 time and I want to listen to Thievery Corporation, there is enough heavy bass for me. Anyone want my R.F?
