Decent Budget Subwoofer and Amplifier?

Hello members of this forums! I'm new here and I'd like to ask you guys a question. So currently my car (1998 Toyota 4Runner) has a cheap Pioneer stereo unit with 4 (I think Pioneer) cheap speakers s well. The end result is a ok sound with absolutely no low end sound. I was thinking of just throwing in a "decent" budget subwoofer that would give the audio some much needed bass to have a much more enjoyable listening experience, since my music consists of a decent amount of bass. I assume I would also need an amplifier to go along with a single sub? I plan on keeping the 4 Speakers and Stereo Unit is has currently. Again, I'm not looking for something top of the line or the best experience possible, I just want to add some bass. Could you guys point me to some specific products or brands that would start me on my endeavor? My budget would probably be $400 total for the Subwoofer and amplifier. Thanks a lot for reading this wall of text.

Budget system owner reporting in. I spent under 400 on my set up. its way too loud for me but is fun to demo every so often.

amp = $150

Sub = $85

box = $90

+20 dollar amp kit. not bad for an "ebay" system at all. id find a custom t line box though with all this money you're saving. you wont be sorry!

To give you an idea how loud it is: i had everything turned down to 0db, and xover set to 40-45hz. it was still over powering everything. had to set my balance to the rear almost 70% since my subs are driven off the fronts, and lower the bass on my head unit just to get it sounding "balanced"

Never included what you actually got.

Guaranteed even with a weak sub, itlldrown out your mids and highs. Id get a single jbl gt5 15 in a sealed box and a 5 channel amp like the ppi 900.5 so your speakers wont get drowned out.
Agreed. Infinity has some 2 ohm reference speakers that I use and only run 50 pair. 20o for a 900.5, and plenty left over for a budget sub and supplies.
