Debating Going Active Duty

Stress of going to college ? LOL ... I'm active duty right now trying to go back to college, that shit is stressful! Free 100% tuition assistance? BS! I'm taking a $900 calc course at the USC campus and if I fail I have to pay 100% of that back... its only free if you actually pass the course. Then you have to think about all the exercise and phase operations that go on every quarter. That right there is 2-4 weeks of 12 hour shifts 7 days a week in full MOPP gear. Ontop of having to goto school right after work, and trying to fit in sometime to eat food + sleep. I suggest sticking it out in the reserves and finish school. If college life is stressing you out, I don't see how mixing the military in with it would make it any easier? Online classes or not.
let me clear this up, i'm not in college, i'm still in highschool. i meant the stress of picking colleges, scholarships, etc. its not like i'm going to have a hard time getting into one or getting scholarships, just getting tired of it and thought a few years active could be fun and beneficial.

I plan on majoring in computer science.

Well the army may be the only really secure job left anymore, i don't even know if there will be anything for me when i get out of college
should i tell my story again and what they are still doing to me

its only secure as long as they want you. i was demoted BECAUSE i got hurt and couldnt deploy. WTF is that shit

i should go through college and join as an Lt. ...
Definitely.

I can pretty much guarantee you'd regret no going in as an officer. I know I did.

It's a no brainer. Would you rather get payed less or more? Would you rather tell some one to dig a latrine or get told to dig a latrine.

I did 7 years active, and will hit 10 years next june total service--im in the Air Guard now. I was an E-6 when I got of active up here in AK--pulling over 60k a year (im single). Good money and job stability, BUT i got sick of the B.S and telling me where to live so I got off of Active and finished my degree, now I work in the Fed Govt---there are options, dont let the "steady paycheck" thought that so many have in Active Duty. They ***** and moan (I supervised 30+ people) but stay in for the easy paycheck. Also look at the AF or Navy---they give you more options for training that can transfer over into the civilian world.

its such a highschool misconception that if your a lazy son of a ***** the millitary is the easy way out, kid be realistic... you plan on majoring in computer science and seeing as how i dont know any Boxer's or MMA fighters that majored in computer science im gonna go out on a limb and say you dont know too much about combat either....yet you want to "be on the front lines, because your here to protect not run away"... none the less i support the troops so do what u wanna do
