Apparently you can find them for $300 + shipping CAD in Canada. Might be the best way to go ... but I really don't want to after seeing Loyds bench test.

What did the bench test show? I was curious as to how much power mine put out, only louder than my old MTXs (~900 RMS ish) by 0.7 dB.

Ouch...maybe I will run mine at 1/2 ohm and see if it works a bit better.

Yeah that's pretty bad.

Sucks for me because that was basically the only amp in my price range you could purchase BNIB.

JBL 1200 would be a good one as well, can usually find them fairly cheap used from time to time. They are also louder than my HiFonics was/is.

Never had luck with the JBL 1200.1's @ 1ohm. Cheap power, I know ... but I won't be buying another one three weeks later.

So this uberwoofer doesn't even need that much in the way of enclosure volume then? If I had the money, I'd be interested in one, but then I'd have the same problem I do now with my W7 -- lack of power (a 300W@2ohm amp isn't exactly going to cut it).

Doesn't need a large sealed enclosure at all. Sure you can have one if you want to ... just not needed. Ported is a different story.
