Deadner in car....how much?

Welp im gonna order some deadner for my Explorer this week and had a couple questions

After i installed my temp setup it rattles everything, baddd.

Now i was wondering about how much you use in each doors, as much as u can fit?

I also have 2 6.5s in the front doors which would benefit from that as well, and the backs.

But around how much should go in each doors for best application, and should i do the roof to or not?

Oh and i was thinking of going with Second Skin perhaps, any other suggestions welcome

doing the roof would help I would imagine.

lol... I have only ever used dynamat.

And I would just put one layer around the whole car.

Thats with the dynamat tho... not sure with the others...

Second Skin is real good shit.

For much-improved midbass, and a solid 'thunk' when you close your doors,, i would go with a good 20 ft^2 per door, maybe more. 2-3 layers on the outer metal panel, 2-3 layers on the inner metal layer (with all holes sealed up), a layer of some closed cell foam or ensolite over the deadener on the inner panel. Then do a couple layers or more on the plastic door panel to add some weight to that.

Back doors, I wouldn't focus on as much as the fronts.

Doing the roof would definitely help. Any large flat metal panel in the vehicle that resonates can really benefit from deadening. The roof is obviously the biggest flat panel in the car.

Remember though, you might go down just a hair on the meter. Sometimes the rattling can add to your spl score. It takes lot more than just throwing down a bulk pack of dampener to eliminate all of your rattles though. If you can't afford to buy a shit ton, you could just hit some key strategic places.

I hear ya...im def. looking to spend about $400 on just this...and thats exactly wat i was thinking 20ft in each doors, i may hold off on the roof just yet....but all doors and back hatch will get it

I seen an 80ft bulk pack for 279 new on their site, so i may get one of those and some other stuff

20ft for front doors 10 for back and rest for hatch, plus the foams and what not

RAAMmat is very good stuff, and very affordable. I think it's about $120-$130 including shipping (that stuff's heavy!) for 62.5 sq ft.

Also, make sure you put ensolite inside the door, i.e. the outer door skin, as well as a layer on the inner door skin.

After you deaden everything, if you have any rattles, it's because of two things touching and rattling together. Some foam tape in strategic places will take care of that.

I used a roll of Raammat in the trunk, and I plan on using a roll in the doors (4 door). just measure the door and guess how much you are going to need. it all depends on the size of the doors. a 4 dr benz S class is going to need more deadener than an altima coupe.

x2 on the RAAMmat for price and product quality. If you don't care about price, then go with Second Skin Damplifier or Dynamat Xtreme.

Door...figure about 6-8 sq ft for a single layer, both sides.

Trunk...figure about 20-40 sq ft per layer.

Wow, I used about 16 sq ft per door, and I could have used more, there were some places on the inside I couldn't reach. 6-8 sq ft doesn't seem like nearly enough. But I guess it depends on the size of your doors. I have a 2000 Jimmy, 2-door.

Definitely depends on the door. 6-8 is just a very rough estimate. The only way to be sure is to take the panel off and measure.
