deadener

one more question which i guess goes by opinions, but how many layers should be used and should you cover every square inch of the suv? About how much is needed? Its a 2008 ford escape

One layer you will notice a huge difference. Two you will notice even more. Basically, the first layer you'll notice the biggest difference with every layer after that you will notice a difference, but a smaller one than applying the previous layer.

It is all about how much money you want to spend. In an SUV, I would deaden the front doors, the rear hatch, the roof, and the floor by my feet. In that order. It would be pretty expensive to do multiple layers, but many people do it. If you plan on deadening the entire SUV and money is an issue at all, I'd go with multiple layers of RAAMmatt.

Damp pro did the best in tests done by an objective car audio enthusiast. Dynamat Xtreme was right after damplifier.

I would use damp, but when I put the mat in my car I'm gonna use dynamat xtreme cause I can get that cheaper than anything.

Rudeboy (Don from the SDS) has been doing his own quasi-scientific testing and he feels a foil-backed deadener like DP is superior to a product without the foil constraining layer. IIRC, he's also found as little at 25% coverage can have a significant difference in vibration reduction.

Depending on who you ask, it can vary from 60-80% coverage is as good as 100%. This depends on the location, shape and how badly the substrate is vibrating.

One thing is for sure, large flat panels need vibration treatment the most...espcially right in the middle. Take care of those in your car, and you're doing pretty well. The overkill approach acts like an insurance policy, but it might cost you extra time and money.

What about first layer completely covered in dp and than doubling up in certain spots with something like phatmat or RAAMAT
Many say that one layer of DP seems equal to multiple layers of other brands. I can not testify either way, as I don't have experience with multiple layered deadener. I would say go with DP throughout the entire car, and then if you are looking for even more do the second layer with RAAMmatt. You would have really good results.

When you make statements like that, you sorta need to back it up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Charmin is the best toilet paper. It's thicker, stronger, feels better on your ***. It, without a doubt, the best toilet paper.
And yet you can make similar statements with even less to back them up?....
No. Yes.
And thank you for spelling it correctly. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Normally I wouldn't get into this, but clearly you have a chip on your shoulder lately. Is everything okay? Want to PM me about it?

how many sq ft would you order
Grab a tape measure, go out to your car, and get some rough measurements. Finding area is elementary math, length * width, should be pretty simple to get a basic idea how much you need.
Doors should be priority number one. Cover everything if you can afford to. Find a happy medium between those two choices if you cant afford total coverage. Dont skimp out on the product you purchase, not even to buy more of the inferior product. I recommend Rammat BXT at minimum.

i mean i can afford the dp i just dont want to buy more than i need to or else it will be posted on here in the classifieds lol
