Dead Short In Unknown Area

Hey everyone I've ran into a problem and i don't know how to resolve it so i came to the internet for answers, hopefully someone can help me.To make a long story short a couple weeks ago i blew my amp(mtx thunder elite 1500 watts) so i took it to a professional to have it fixed which he did and he tested it for 6 hours and it worked flawlessly, i got it back yesterday and hooked all the wires and everything back up to it in correct order and in the correct terminals, As soon as i turned the ignition on i heard the subs crackle and then the amp started rollin out the smoke so after i cut the power to it i took it apart and its fried. It seems like i have a dead short somewhere and im not to sure how to tell where it would be coming from at first i thought it might be a bad sub so i unscrewed both them out of the box and tested the impedance with a multimeter and they both read 1.7 ohms(there wired in parallel) does anyone have any suggestions on what else to check, im going to buy a new amp but don't want it to blow as soon as i turn the ignition on like the other one.

Do the subs make a grinding sound when you push the cones up/down? If so, they could be blown.

While you have the subs out, play them at low volume on a another amp or home stereo (LOW volume) and see if you get any sound. Even if they both read 1.7, they could be shorted somehow. If they play sound OK, I would suspect a short in your wiring to the body. The only way it would blow like that is reverse polarity on power or a direct short on the output, which should make the amp go into protect 80% of the time (with most amps).

Probably the SPEAKER WIRE to the sub(s) shorting out. Pull it out and examine it for missing insulation. If it's pinched between seat or something that you ran the wire under it's likely the speaker outs shorted to chasis.
