dead amp help

I tried to connect the power cable to my amp with the neg. battery terminal on. The amp fuses blew. Then blew twice again after reconnecting the battery terminal. My high amp is ok but the power stayed on (after took keys out of ignition) because it was piggyback with the dead amp.? I disconnected the piggyback wire and the amp turned off/ works. Do I need a new amp?
