DD's at a lower tuning???

I know the site recommends then to be tuned at 40Hz, but I was wondering how they preform to a lower tuning? Say like 34Hz? I'm doing 4 (possibly 6) 1508's using real 4" aero ports (not PVC, lol) for tuning.

i thought you were going for LOUDDDD. Ive seen people get 4 of the 1508's and get rid of them within months to get something louder... you have A LOT of room to work with..

I'm trying to get away from a wall, and stay below the window line. I also have to keep in mind that I have my air management in the back of the blazer too (tank, comps, etc).

Yup, that's about what I'm at. As for power, I have my 2 1211a (infinity's @ 2ohms), and a planet audio BB1350.1. I have 6 1508's, and I know they can take some power. I also know they can get loud without sacrificing space.

Because I already have these sitting here. Also, I don't have the money to buy something else right now.

On DD's site, it (basically) says that they make the spiders stiffer to load the speaker as opposed to designing the box to load the woofers. It also says they design their speakers to play an octave lower then tuning frequency.

Also, DD's site says "Each Sub Series we make is designed to work in the DD Boxes." If you don't want to follow the companies suggestions, by all means, do whatever you want. It is not Audiobahn recommending these box specs, I think DD knows what they are doing.

If you do tune low I'd imagine you'd just sacrifice output for no gain in SQ. Only testing could find out if that would be true in your case though.

I know plenty of people who have tuned/peaked low and they worked quite well.

Typerbass' old setup comes to mind. Would do 155's on the dash at 34 hz. 157's outlaw.
