DD Z1 - voltage drop?

z1 has protection but if its an older z1 you may run into some problems in the future DD is trying to fix the gliches before the new generation becomes available.

problems how so?
I'm only asking, because I'm currently running it off a 12.2volt, 100amp switchmode mains input powersupply... :p
not sure the problem but many peeps are having problems with the z1s, either frying or stayin into protect, thats why the new batches havnt been released yet, Contact Jassa he could tell ya more than i could. Great amp though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Hmm......two interesting parts of that quote:

1.many peeps are having problems with the z1s, either frying or stayin into protect

2.Great amp though

very interesting //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif its a powerhouse for sure, but heard of many problems with time of use. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif in other words has great potential once they figure out the gliches //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

apparently the amp accepts 0.2 - 7volts audio input or something...

I tried it off my clarion headunit, which is apparently 1.8 volts....

no way could the amp get anywhere near full potential...

hmm

thats why you have a gain setting on the amp, input voltage has little to do with it, if you match the gain correctly you'll still get the output of the amp, itll just be cleaner at say a 5volt preout, it all depends how much voltage you can stabalize example... 13.8 volts, 14.4volts etc...

no it wont, because the gain control is maxed out, and playing music, I cant even get the amp to clip, or drop the 12.2volts input, even with the headunit up full volume.

probably has something wrong with it send it back to DD
nah, it just needs a higher input level....

every car amp I've had has seemed to want the gain turned up full... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I'll just make a line driver...... or run it off the high level (speaker) outputs from the headunit... oh wait, I can't, I forgot :p

I've never had a car setup that needed full gain... but hey I like snakes on a plane... I MUST be a ****tard.
x2 me either, i have noticed with the new AT's the vac will go up with the high pass x-over and also with adjusting the subsonic filter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif maybe setting the DD is the same way, just with the gain turned up itll only go to 75VAC but adjusting the other two things mentioned earlier it will go way up more where you dont have to set the gain to max //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
