Hey guys,

Im building my first box that wasnt a simple square box. havent dealt with angles before but i got a lot of help from a guy on this forum. his name is dappa somethin. i forgot the exact name. im sure he'll chime in soon. but i couldnt have done it without him so big thanks to him. the box isnt perfect but i am learning from every cut i fvck up. this will be 2 Digital Designs T1510's in a ported box tuned to 38 hz. 2.9 ft^3 before displacements and will be powered by a sundown saz1500 with the gains turned down of course. I dont have a nice table saw so i was stuck using a circular saw and it took me literally all day to make the cuts. part of it was i had to go out and buy another sheet of mdf because i fvcked up 2 cuts that were 59.5 inches long. thanks for looking guys.any comments are appreciated.

Yep, you learn a lot after your first box build. The second one will always be much better. The box looks good for a first build. One suggestion though. If you have a router or plan to purchase one in the future, buy a flush-trim bit. Any edges that are overlapping a little, can be sheared of to make the surface smooth. It's the best shit ever for rookie builders like ourselves. I know what you mean on f'in up a whole sheet of wood. I did that on my first box as well. It was an excellent experience though. Post pics of the box finished. Good job

yea unfortunately i dont have a router but my friend is letting me use his. im confused on how the bit works. can you explain? but thanks man i will definitely have pics up tomorrow. hopefully finished!

The bit has a little wheel at the bottom that rolls across the lower of the 2 uneven pieces, while the flute(blades) cuts everything above that, even with the area the wheel goes across.

alright guys. so im pretty pissed right now. finally finished the box, went to go pick up my subs, and got my 4 inch aero ports, carpet , and speaker wire in. well i didnt think the 4 inch aero ports would be 7 1/4 " in diameter so now im having problems with where im going to mount them. so i have a few questions i need answered and id really appreciate it if someone helped me out with this.

1. the psp's site says this "Determine proper speaker & port placement before cutting any holes. The Precision Port™ should be placed at least one port diameter away from any inside walls, if possible. " well i think about the only place i can put it is facing the same way my subs are facing. what does it mean by one port diameter away? how far is that? i have about 2-3 inches away from my seats for the ports. will this sound any different if i had it mounted on top?

2. psp's port calculator says i need 8 inches of port required. does that mean 8 inches of pipe plus the flares or 8 inches from flare end to flare end?

3. what would you do if you were in my situation. please help. i want this in by tomorrow.

thanks guys,

-eric
