DD Audio SL610 or SL710?

I'm wanting to upgrade my JL Audio sub (300W) to either a DD Audio SL610 (600W) or SL710 (1000W). I'm running a JL Audio amp (500W). Should I choose the SL610 or would i be ok running the SL710 (which costs less 🤔).
Is your box ported? IMO the SL710 looks better and higher power handling wins me over. Another plus is you can use a smaller ported box (0.5 c.f.) vs. (0.75 c.f.) for the SL610.

I got a sealed box and don't want to change it (at least not right now). Eithet sub can can fit. A stereo shop recommend the SL710, but everything I'm rereading says is can burn up an amp or clip if I push an amp that's underpowered, and I "should" match my amp/sub power

That is the case if you are not careful with setting gain. What you do is set the gains to the max RMS an amp has. In your case it would be 500w. It being a new sub, it will sound uninspired until it fully "breaks in" so no reason to become discouraged.
Now, going from a 300w to a 600w sub is a considerable difference so any one you choose will satisfy your needs. I know DD Audio does not disappoint.
