dd 35k psi recone warm dustcap

Hi guys just got psi recone install*sub*plays good but I started to notice that my*dustcap gets a little warm wen I touch it the*sub*was to b 1600rms im pushing with a jbl gto 1200.1 gain n level less than half way I*sub*stills get hot... volume at 45 on my 9500bhs deck loud off bass off sub 0 wat maybe the problem? ??

Any electrical upgrades? Check to see if amp is clipping with a multimeter first. Could also be box design I had a w6v2 12 on 500rms getting stinky because of box design but that is a much more picky sub.

Your problem is that "gain n level less than half way" is not how to feed your sub a clean signal

I have big 3 yellow top on the trunk idk about box had 3 different subs with this box never had a problem with them maybe the fresh recone? ??

Wat do u mean phemps???

So you're feeding your sub 1200 watts give or take, a sub is at best 2% efficient and that's only on super efficient drivers which anything DD or PSI make is not, so let's call it 1% efficient as in only 1% of the input power actually goes to moving the cone and making sound, the other 99% is burnt of as heat, so from 1200 watts, 12 are used to move the sub and 1188 watts are lost as heat which is quite a bit of heat so no crap your sub gets warm, it's having to dissipate **** near 1200 watts of heat.

Just that you can never be sure that your not clipping the sine wave of your output by just setting gain to a random position which is how you made it seem it was.

Actually not all the efficiency losses between electrical energy in to acoustic energy out are lost in heat in the coil, but agreed 1200W is a lot of heat. About as much as the burner on an electric range uses.

Of course in this day and age everybody is much more concerned with "how many RMS's" a sub can take, and as in the days of old, the company who exaggerates most about power ratings wins out with the majority of uninformed consumers.
