Dd 1500

That's almost exactly what I have currently - I have a box with a 12w3 in it, and I'll just put the DD in it's place. The current box is 2.5 or so cu feet, tuned to 35.
that box will be peaky around tuning.. if you want something peaky down low that will do it... if you want something a bit more linear with a wider bandwidth i suggest 2 tuned to 36 or so with 30in^2 of port area... drop the DD in though and see how you like it... 600 RMS should be plenty...

what alignment you used?power placement? Old mouth will say anything if old brain cannot comprehend..
1508's, 9510's, 9512's, up to 9918's...everything from tiny CRX-style boxes to walls.

Nothing I've heard from them would even come close to being "acceptable" to me.

That's just IMO.

maybe our taste are vastly different... many many people hate DD... and for the same reason, yet the drivers i have used i know there limits and what they where designed to do and what the can do... so i learned to alter some things to aid the woofer in different areas that where lacking...

for instance everyone is lead to believe that DDs need huge boxes... that couldn't be further from the truth... 9515s work in smaller boxes, but they become VERY irritated if you don't do one thing... adjust port area.. its a MUST with a sub using such a stiff suspension...

i tried my 2512a is a couple boxes and the output is staggering in the boxes recommended by DD... the woofers designed for larger boxes and higher tunes but they can be altered...

1.75 tuned to 28 with 40in^2 of port area... lowend was bowl-moving and high frequency extension didn't suffer one bit...no longer was it peaky and one noteish.. it became more defined and sounded more natural..there was one huge sacrifice though, efficiency... it went threw the floor and i could find its thermal limit long before its mechanical limit.. there are a great deal of things you can do with a woofer once you know it limits and boundaries.. i will admit that the 35 and 9500 are more SPL oriented.. thing is they too can sound great in there useable bandwidth... the 9500 is awesome on fast paced music. like techno and metal/rock which lowend extension isn't below 40hz...sure there overdamped but there are ways to make them very mild.. i have used them quite a bit and i love there products... i don't think they sound bad cause they don't but there not what amny people like to call SQ woofers.. simply because of the l higher tunes and over damped/dry sound and limited lowend....

if you find yourself thinking that lower FS woofers and small sealed boxes sound better, your probably lending to a specific damping and type of sound you perfer... which is perfectly fine

It's rated for 3-500 it says, my amp currently does 460@4 ohms.. Will that up to 600 do that much for the volume?

And, does anyone have any clue on the price or have one for sale?

If I'm not a complete audiophile, will I really notice that big of a sound difference? The only subs I've ever heard are the Infinity References, the Alpine Type R's, and my 12W3... I don't mind low sq, just as long as it doesn't sound like straight up smelly ***.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

i suggest to you, do what i done/ take advice and build from there... if you don't like that specific alignment build another until your pleased...

Thats what I was thinkin, I might just go buy a few sheets of 3/4" MDF and build a few boxes and see what sounds best. But still, I really need to figure out that price... anyone know it?

where you located? i think there right at 160.... check out http://www.low-hz.com, if your in the Georgia area kevin holden can get you a good deal..
160, holy shit, I'm sold on that. I'm in Indiana though

Wait does that mean $220 if I get the carbon fiber dust cap? those are like $60 per right?

Those things are too cool to pass up.

my boy had 2 1512's on a PA 3000db @2ohms and they did a 142.5 DB in his truck.. they take power like a champ and get suprisingly loud for the pricetag.. his were about $275 bnib.. now he has 4 of them on the 3000db At 1ohm and they're the loudest system in this area...

the 500's are no slouch either.. my gf has 2 10's in 3cubes at 34hz and gets really loud for under $200 for teh set on her bxi1606D @2.. and my best friend has 4 512's on a MTX 82001 and did 143 from his trunk.. his 6 go in saturday in a wall and soon 2 strap 2 MTX 82001's

That's awesome... Do you mean 275 for both? And if Tacosys says they're loud, they must be loud haha.

Gosh **** I'm about to cry. I've had the 12w3 in the back of my pilot for like, 5 weeks now, and I can't bump it. All the **** wires are ran and everything. I gotta get my HU in ASAP. Gotta get the **** dash kit.

Oh yeah and a question - do you think the 500 or 1500 would get louder on 460 RMS? I'm trying to decide. And I gotta find a way to get them online... DD's order form is a little wierd, doesnt give prices. I can either get 460 RMS and a 1500 and save for a cadence tx 1000d I think it is or just get a 500... or get the 500 on the cadence. i don't know what to do.

Ok sorry to bump this but I thought of a few new questions.

First off, this Cadence amp ( http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_id=6102 ) seems like it would be perfect at it's 2 ohm rating for the DD 1512... but it says that it's rated 2ohm 650 rms @ 13.8 volts, and my car battery is 12 volts and all... does that mean that's what it is with a new higher power alt?

Or should I just stick with my 460 RMS amp and be done with it? Will I really notice that much of a DB gain with 650 more?

Oh, and does anyone know a DD dealer that would ship to me? That would be bangin.

Sorry for all the dipshit questions again. Thanks.
