DC subs,are they any good

wouldn't it make more sense for it to be SQL then, since the "SQ" part comes first //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
Haha yea but generally people that are talking sql want loud first and want it to sound good second

LvL5 vs a 9500 series both in their proper box. My money would go on the DD all day. I mean they just perform and are **** near impossible to blow. Yes, they can be blown that’s not what I am saying I am just saying they can take a hella lot of abuse and keep on going. As far as the DD sound everyone is talking about it's a myth what sounds good to you does not mean it sounds good to others. All I will say is go to your local show and see what most e1 is using and then see who the class winners are and I bet 90% will be running DD... Hard to fight and argue the facts.

They are good woofers if you know what to do. I had a Level 4 15 in 4.5 net cubes tuned at 32Hz on 1400+@1 (400wrms daily over rated power) and it was every bit as musical as my pair of Image Dynamics ID8D2V3's.

smae motor upgraded suspension and coil. The same coil and suspension on a level 5.
That`s not what I read on the DC website, Gap is tighter then the Lvl5 andit uses the Lvl 5 soft parts,it`s sit between the lvl5 and the lvl4.

Here are the facts:This sub was developed out of demand.

We were getting a lot of requests for something bigger than the LV4 but doesn't kill the gas mileage like the LV5 80+ lbs subs. We were moving a lot of hybrid subs that used LV4 motors with LV5 coils but we knew we could do better than that.

So we thought, everyone likes the LV5, It’s a fantastic sub... Lets use it as the platform for an in-between sub. We played around with a smaller version of the LV5 - That’s exactly what the XL is.... It uses all of the same soft parts of the LV5 with a smaller version of the same motor Just small enough to squeeze through the cut-out hole for a 10" driver. What was the end result? A great sounding high powered daily driver sub that can be used in or out of the competitive lanes. The XL has devastating lows and reliability. It quickly became our best selling sub!

Level Five

LV5

A lot went into the design of this sub. We wanted an SPL sub without the drawbacks that some of the others encounter.

We had an idea, it was a sub with sick amounts of magnetic force but with a large gap

and cooling. This is something you don't see from other companies. But why would we be different? The answer is less coil failures and less re-cones. The only drawback (if it is one) you need a 73lbs motor to get the job done. Was it worth it? Yes it was!

The end result is a sub that has extreme amounts of output for the SPL lanes but reliable enough for a high-powered daily system.

When it was all done we ended up with a 73lbs triple stacked 1" slug, FEA optimized monster. We use a 8-layer flat wound 3" coil. Its available is D1ohm or D2ohm configurations. We also use upgraded multiple progressive spiders, upgraded cones, surround, lead wire, a cast basket and push terminals.

ive beat the shiat out of my level 5s, had one on about 6k daily for awhile. Took her like a champ. Rusty is a great guy to deal with also. Customer service alone will keep my coming back to DC.

i have a level 4 10" in a ported console box i built in my quad cab dodge ram, powered by a dd m1a for about 2 years now, and i have ALWAYS been impressed with it and have no problems whatsoever

there isnt anything setting these subs apart from the rest though. alot of the motors are copies of other sub motors that have been on the market for many yrs...
what I like about them ......is that you don`t have to use a big *** box..they play in a somewhat smaller enclosure than AQ and DD and a few other subs need
