Just to keep the facts straight between the two alternators and companies... Our alternator for the Fords is an AD244 Delco alternator that I designed custom frames for to fit the Fords, the MM will undoubtedly be a 3G or 6G Ford... AD244 alternator > ANY Ford alternator.. Not trying to stir the pot here, but this is an apples-oranges comparison, especially idle numbers...

3G = third generation Ford alt, 6G = sixth generation Ford alt... The 3G alternator was first used in '92 (95 and 130 amp), the 6G first used in 1999 (110 and 135 amp). The AD244 was first used in 2002, second generation started production in '07.. The "AD" series of alternators is actually produced by Delco Remy, NOT General Motors as widely believed although GM is the largest customer for those particular alternators.. Rob

nice info

DC is consistently more expensive
Yes, that is true, we are consistently slightly more expensive... But, with that said we consistently deliver alternators nobody else can, hit output's that nobody else can, and we have alternators nobody else does.. Our products don't come for the same cost as run of the mill product that everybody else makes...

Do you expect to go buy a C63AMG or a 911 for the same cost as a Mustang GT? Will the Mustang GT perform like a C63 or a 911?? Not likely...

We are a high performance manufacturer that is made in the USA, with exclusively USA made parts, not "made in USA with CHINESE parts".. There is a reason we are more expensive and it's not because we're greedy, it's because our products really are worth an extra few bucks, but for the most part we are priced so comparatively that considering what we deliver for that money, we are consistently a better value... too bad mechman isnt in here and can give his side of the story ha.

just to compare

so far I like the sound of the DC Power alt

what do you do different though without "giving your idea away" everyone who builds H.O Alts uses better diodes/ tighter, better wound staters, better voltage regulators.... know what I mean?

like what parts would you claim to be better than the next guy?

In this case, it's a simple matter of a better alternator to start with, an AD244 alternator vs a Ford alternator, and the AD244 alternator is FAR superior, in EVERY way than the Ford produced alternator, and better starting point = better finished product.. Also, as I said earlier it's about overall VALUE, not overall COST.. Those things are 2 totally different things..

Like *some* manufacturers use (but not all) we use better rectifiers, regulators etc, but also, the windings we use in ALL of our alternators are ours, they are exclusive to us and are designed to produce better outputs at all RPMS than other commercially available windings that I can say for certainty are in all of our competitors alternators.. Things like using nothing but the best bearings like NTN, NSK, KOYO, and building from OEM alternators instead of new Chinese..

On top of all that, we INCLUDE hard anodized billet pulleys on EVERYTHING we sell, which the other manufacturer charges extra for..

We also put an enormous amount of effort into little details that others overlook that make big differences in the finished products performance and durability..

In this case though, just for reference, here are a couple of pics of one of our customers alternators next to a competitors...

What do ya know?...the thread I've been talking about is still on the first page of this section of the forum...

(Title= DC power alternator or Mechman )

Both this thread and the previous one that was almost identical to this thread will point out that both have great sucesses in setups and both have darn good customer service. I personally would go for Mechman...some other's will say DC...
