DB-R's top picks for WORST amplifier design..

yes I agree I have a 4-channel classAB kx800.4 setting under my bed now with 2-channels blown, i also have a class d kx2500d that I`m using and not a problem with it I also have a class d dx350 amp that is built like a tank and no problems.....so I have to agree cheap built Korean amps are the zx and the kx class AB amps.....from now on I will stick with the older kicker stuff it was better built.
but your 02KX8004 is almost 8 years old now.

nothing is totally bullet, nor age proof.

Exactly.
His list is highly dependent upon the total sales of the amplifiers, his specific customer base/business and customer demographics, use of the amplifiers he's repaired, when the failure occurs, etc etc.

Just because he's repair more 2500D's than he has Brand X amplifiers doesn't mean that the Brand X amplifiers don't have a higher percentage of failures compared to total units sold, for example.

He might simply have more 2500D's sent to his business than he does Brand X due to his customer base. Maybe very few people who own a Brand X amplifier have actually heard of his company, while he is more well known to those 2500D owners who've sent their amps to him.

Or maybe the Brand X's fail while still under warranty so they are repaired by the manufacturer as opposed to being sent out to an independent repair service (such as his) whereas the 2500D's fail after warranty and it's cheaper for him to repair as opposed to sending it into Orion.

There are dozens of variables that are going to affect his "list", making it highly unreliable and inaccurate.

To reiterate just a few of the reasons why his list is highly unreliable (pun intended).

db-r did nothing wrongi dont really think jumping all over him for voicing his opinion from his personal experience is very well-founded
In my humble opinion, the main problem here is in his presentation of his information.

Given all of the variables, he hardly has the necessary data to determine what the "worst" used amplifiers are or to rate amplifiers based solely on his invoices.

Now, if he had simply said something along the lines of "if you are having a problem with X amplifier, this is the most common reason for failure I have observed....."

But that's NOT how he labeled or presented the information. He pretends (and labeled the information) as if he has some knowledge that in reality he does not possess. And most manufacturer's, I presume, would not take kindly to being slandered against based on faulty or fallible information.

so it's been sitting somewhere, for almost 8 years?
no more like6 years of setting aroundIts been under my bed for a little over a year, I did not abuse the amp are used it incorrectly.....it was used to run my active setup and I did use a meter to set my gains so that I was not sending my front stage a clipped signal...I was playing it one at moderate listening level and it just stop playing my tweets...like I said I like kicker amps but there seems t0o be some truth what DB-r says aboth the KX AB series of amps .
