My only problem would be the mounting location in most cars isnt a good fit with point source speakers, which work best near ear level and aimed at the listener.

They would probably be great in bookshelf speakers though.

 
agreed, you'd still want a tweeter to raise the soundstage.

i think bookshelves are a good application.
