my trunk has a problem of a lot of mousture in it (peice of shit 95 neon) so 2 corners of my old box were messed. the mdf like sucked in ater and it deformed and there was salt all over it lol.

Oh well the stuff you got is dead anyway, + its probably covered in some type of protective coating..

I guess you could seal it before you put the carpet on. Use tung oil or polyurethane.

I always thought moisture would be the real enemy, but I'm in VA where we go from jungle-like heat+humidity in summer to 10 deg in winter, and it rains all year...

I just keep em from getting directly wet, except for a few stray raindrops, and I havent seen any degradation of the wood, except the outside turns a little darker brown/orange over time. But still very structurally sound.
