D2 wont get no louder

once again i was out testing my system...

1 D2 and a Orion Xtr Pro 2400 ran at 4 ohms for 1200 wts..

ok.. i have a AC Epic 150 (yeah, i know... but its still good for configureing)...

for some reason, i cant get over 148...

my HU (Pioneer Avh 6400 & Pioneer SDX P7 dvd player) can turn to volumes 64.. i listen to it at 32 MAX.... HU Bass is set on 0 and also 0 on HU EQ...i can turn it up and i can hit 147, 148..... i

if i turn my BASS and BASS EQ up... i get to 148... only at lower vloumes... which stays the same even at higher volumes... even at 45...

Why cant i hit any harder?

this is all tested on Bass Mekanic cd, after finding which frequence thas hits the hardest... which is 45 hz....

i can hit 147 w/ Bass EQ and Bass up to 7...which is highest they go at vol 8... and up to 20....

after this i checked my voltage.... which wasnt good....Car on ACC... battery voltage was 12.4 and w/ car turned on.... Battery voltage was 12.2

so i tested my alternator.....14.2

but a the end of the alt power wire.. 12.3

stock alt... 70 amps...

personally, i use 50mm2 for 120ampere on 5 meter, i expect no more then that 120ampere on that lengtitude so thicker cables will help u altho i do not now what 8 guage is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

for the rest measure ur remote for fun, i´m betting it doesnt come over 10v which can cause a problem (my amp turns off at 9v on remote) but since yours keeps playing its probally only wiring, alternator or (and?) battery ... sigh.. You should definagely upgrade the power wire and the ground. Uprading those two, as well as your factory batter, can make a noticable difference in voltage to your equipment. You will suffocate your amplifier's current draw if you don't have large enough power wire. If you can get up to around the 13 volt range to your amplifier, you should see a decent increase in output fromt he amplifier.

I think you should be quite happy being in the upper 140's with a single D2. That VERY high for a single 12" sub. I'm not sure how that Epic compares to other meters such as Audio Control or Termpro, but it still sounds like you have very good ouput for that single D2.

I doubt your power loss is going to effect you that much, because you are already giving that sub enough power, depending on the enclosure, to near its limits.

let me add... i use to have an 150 amp alt.. uprgraded the alt. wires to 4 guage... pushing same amp but at 2 ohms ... off 4 12s kickers... well, i ended up blow 3 of the subs... and also blew the alt... also i have a 2nd optima yellow top battery...alone w/ Duralast Gold up front.....

148 on an Epic 150 is a darned good score with a single 12. Until you upgrade your power wire to 1/0 I wouldn't be looking forward to higher numbers. Still...almost maxing out your mic with a single 12? Pretty good IMO.

no, im happy w/ the what im hitting...and its sounds GREAT.....but i know it can get LOUDER... and LOUDER is always good....

you are bottlenecking that amp. It wants as much as it can get, and when you give it everything it deserves, you wil see better numbers.

But like I, and others, have said before - you need to upgrade your power (and ground) wire. namster44 put it flat out, you're bottlenecking that amplifier. It needs a LOT of power to create power and 4 gauge isn't going to cut it with that particular amplifier.

yes, i know and understand that...

the amp takes dual 4 guage power and ground...and i know i need to run atleast 0/1 from front battery to 2nd battery...and as ground....bus why am i only gettin 12 volt w/ the car crunk... as when my previous set up... same alt factory battery w/ 2nd ooptima 4uage.. stock wires for alt... same amps.. running at 2 ohms....i was getting 14.... but now... im only gettin 12.... testin at the alt i get 14byt at 1st battery.. i get 12???
