x3 was NOT impressed at all by the CVR's I've heard. They make noise, but that's about it...
i've personally just hear a single 12" R with like 500 watts sealed...
then two 12" cvrs with 750, birthsheet 920ish in a ported box
the two cvr's blew that bish of a R right outta the water, even though it was only one, two of them would get pwned, just from what i've heard

im about to switch from two CVRs off of 900 to two Rs off of 1500 so hopefully i can agree with you soon.
i've never tried ot heard cvr's but i had a pair of R's and i beat on them aswell
