CV recone?

One of the cones is pushed in on my Cerwin Vega Re-30s, and I called an Authorized store that repairs them and the guy said that I would have to get both woofers reconed because if I got just one of them done it would sound different. Is that true?

If they reconed them with OEM parts, they should not sound different.

That is, unless they are like 30 years old.........

There about 5-6 years old, I believe.

Well no 2 speakers sound exactly the same, especially a new one and a broke in one. The 5-6 year old speaker will sound a bit smoother because of the softening of the surrounds over time, especially with constant use. However, we are talking about CV speakers so how much are you really going to hear that difference. I would say not that much. How much do they want to recone them? Worst case you could get the one reconed and if they sounded like shit together you could send the other one in.
