I was fine using bolt cuuters for 4 ga now with 1/0 it comes out kinda smashed out. What do you guys use to cut thick wire?

Usually an Xacto knife.

a serrated knife. or gianter bolt cutters.

I use my spyderco knife to cut it.

when i did my big 3 i put the wire in my vise and used a hack saw. but now i have an added question to the post. what do u guys do to crimp ends on 4 and up gauge? i have been using a hammer. but i want to know is there a crimper out there for bigger gauges?

I don't have dental insurance, I crimp my terminal with a cold metal chisel and a hammer.

i found a neat tool at home depot a while back. it's a wire cutter that's designed to cut up to 2/0. it's makes cutting larger gauge wires a breeze.

I use a "swagging tool" to crimp the.. crimps. Home depot carries them.

one of these works really well, you just gotta use the one ment for RG6 coax, then use the flatter inner side ment for measuring the conducter on top of it. need a bit of muscle, but still fits in a toolbox.

then of course, torching it with solder helps keep it together too.

P.S. I use heavy duty sidecutters to cut 1/0

YI do exactly what sniper said. Use a coax crimper and then solder after.
