Cutout for sub

I just need a quick simple response on the cutout for the 12" alpine type R, building a box and I want to be 100% sure before I go with my measurement. I've searched around for 20 minutes and can't find anything, so I just need a quick response before I go cutting. Also, what's the best way to get the jig-saw into the MDF to cut the ring out?

not sure about the hole cut out for the Type R but you only need to drill a hole large enough for the blade to fit into then get going off of that. If you have a decent jig saw, like my Makita, you can start the blade at full speed and actually tip it (cutters toward work piece) into the piece slowly and it will begin to cut down into it plunging it into the piece. Works well.

If you plan on building more boxes, get a router and a jasper jig...holy hell, it was easy as pie. I just finished my box for 2 12" type-r's and it took a whole 10min to cut both holes...
