This is a small build thread im doing for the sake of people that have the old *** GM cars with the 4x9 size speakers or whatever they are and cant find good rear replacements that bolt up.
st pic - my infinity 5022i coaxs. Some decent coaxs i got from work for around 45-50$. Probably 50-60 at any online retailer. These speakers are by far the best 5 1/4 coaxs ive heard yet. Ive owned type r coaxs, phoenix gold, and a few others, and these are by far more clearer and have alot more midbass to them as well. They blend perfectly with my PG comps up front.
nd pic - The weird size hole the car comes with. Measures 3 3/4 by 7. Obviously cant fit anything directly in there so this is where MDF comes in handy.
rd pic - Me drawing everything out. I used the template that came with the speakers to measure the cutout holes, and traced a 6 1/2 plastic baffle i had laying around to round out the edges of the mdf baffles im making.
th Pic - Another pic of the tracing. The baffles i made measure 10w x 5 3/4.
th Pic - Everything drawn out and ready to cut
th Pic - Always cut the edges first. MDF is kinda fragile //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Dont learn that the hard way like i did.
th Pic - Baffle in place and being marked for trimming down. Had to take about 1/2 inch off 1 side and 1/4 on the other side
th Pic - Baffle trimmed and painted, with speaker mounted in it. Ready to be put in car
