Custom Fiberglass Progress Thread: check it out

It is that car show look. Just jaw dropping when you pop your trunk. It is way cooler than a rectangle box. No real advantages other than being cool as hell.
bingo! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

what do we have for him jhonny?!

i personally dot think it will be loud at all....you completely sealed off the trunk from the car.....

the work looks good, but good luck being even close to satisfied with output.
ah ah ah...not exactly...the large green part that was fleeced last is simply a beauty panel...

as soon as i flip down the rear seats....all that built up pressure from the trunk enters teh cabin and...BOOM

I haven't seen the "milkshake" before. I never thought of doing that because I didn't realise the same MEK hardener would work for the both compounds. What I've used that sands really easy and leaves a really nice finish is Resin mixed with microbead filler material. Using an orbital sander that stuff sands about 4x easier than bondo, and when you have a nice finish there you can paint it with something like resin alone for your final finish sanding and to seal it (cuz it'll **** up a lot of primer if you paint it by itself.)

yeah but the car show cars are actually not a single piece that is non removeable //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I think thats what blue was getting at.

coming, i still dont personally like the idea of a non removable box though, i dont really see any advantages of this over an enclosure that can be removed from the vehicle
I'm with ya , door panels are one thing. But I'm not fond of anything else non removable . //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

There are ways of achieving that , and still have it removable . //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

good tip, but i think ill stick with my milkshake (chocolate flavor) yummy:yumyum:

proper sanding, and you don't need either . //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

More, for starters I sand out all the rough spots I can , small divots and scratches are fine. That's what filler is for. When your done sanding the kitty hair . You should have the shape very well defined. Use good filler about 1/8" over everything. Then sand the fook out of it, till it looks smooth to you . Don't worry about sanding through the filler. You want glass smooth. I use black powder , and a big make up brush . Pat it all over the filler for a guide coat. Sand the entire surface lightly , and any low spots or high spots will show up quick //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I wasn't suggesting you use the filler to make major shape changes - in fact the reason I like using this mixture is it tends to self level a bit, so you can paint it on relatively thin and smooth before you sand it.
