Custom box worth the extra $

Just got my JL audio 10w7 in the HO box. Waited a month for it on backorder because from my reading the box means A lot.

The thing won't fit in my car like they said it would. Would it be worth the wait to get a box like the pro wedge that JL makes, Or just go down to my local car audio and buy a plain one?

Really don't want to wait any longer. Would it be hard to sell that HO box?

build one. prefab boxes make your system not reach its full potential. if your gonna waste the money on a 10w7, why not spend the extra to get it to sound good

custom? those JL boxes aren't custom. I would consider a custom box something made specifically for you and your car.

Well its designed for that speaker and tuned to a certain frequency. It's a really impressive box if you look on there homepage. I don't have the tools to build a box.

Furbies, When you say tuned to 32hz how would i get that done? How do you know what to tune it at?

google is your friend, as well as the search button. go to reaudio.com and use their box designer or google port tuning

those boxes may be "designed" for the speaker but not your vehicle. every vehicle is different.

The tuning depends on how long the port is. I've read the JL website and it's just basically a ported box tuned to what the speaker likes, nothing special about it.

Someone is building it to the specs of my car for 120. To ship it back is 85. It seems like a reasonable price. Wish i had the tools to do it though
