Crystal SSCS 6 vs Rainbow SLC265

how do any of these compare to my DLS MS6? I really like em I was thinking of upgrading to Germaniums in a little bit if I can afford them but curious how the crystal's and SLC sound compared to my MS6?

they're different. i think the crystals can get louder. but for you, i'd upgrade and not just go straight across. aka- keep the MS6's. imo, the crystals are about the same level, just different in sound.

i wanna try the SLC mids sometime. my intial response was that the crystals lack the mid bass also. but you get use to it. and then you love it.

Yeh, Im in Queens. As far as I know, their are no Crystal dealers near us. I believe theirs one out in Jersey but im not sure. You won't be disappointed with either set. I would say listen to the Rainbows and if you feel like you need a little more, go with the Crystals.

oh your in queens too? no doubt. i just ordered a pair of rainbow slc265 kicks last night. when i get my shit deadened and installed you can check em out and lemme know what you think of the Kick version.

cant wait to get them speakers, ima proly install em and get frostbite

LOL! That's funny. I got my slc's comin' too, and I'm in Detroit. 4 degrees right now, but I'm prolly gonna install my speakers as soon as ups drops 'em off, lol! Just a little worried about the deadener not sticking, nah mean?

yea in all honesty i may not deadening the doors until it gets a little bit better in NY. ill proly just make a good baffle and stick clay behind it for now.

however if you wanna do the deadener - use a hairdryer when applyin it. should be fine with the heat u kno

Ah...Hairdryer makes sense. Plus, it'll be inside my (attached) garage. And although it's not heated out there, it is insulated, so it's not too bad, lol!

I'm in the same boat...trying to decide between the crystals and the rainbow slc's.

I would be giving them about 110 watts. Is is adviseable to go with the SLC's, due to the lower power in this case?

btw..I was wondering what the main diffrence is between the slc's and slc kicks?

after reading threads and threads, this is getting too much for me! wat i mean is that first i thought of getting some polk audio db650, then polk audio mmc6500 but now im interested in some crystal SSCS 6!!! can the crystal SSCS 6 be powered by an alpine f450?????if so, would the crystal sound good? or do u suggest another amp?

im so confuse rite now.........

Same here, i hate making the wrong decision. I know the minute i buy the crystals, i'll see a thread of how cdt's or rainbows are so much better than crystal and how crystal is garbage.

Seems like they both have their pro's & cons but im gonna get the crystals probably since its cheaper and they seem like almost the same value and put that extra money towards a ho alternator, upgraded wiring, more sound deadening, batteries, etc. It never ends with car audio. Just do that probably and call it a day.

My other main choice right now is the CDT HD-62's or the Crystals.

Can you guys give me some feedback about the Crystal SSCS 6's vs some CDT HD-62's?? Either setup will be powered with a Power acoustik 250x2 @ 4 ohm amp bridged. Probably overrated but who knows.

Kicks have 1.5x more kickbass to em vs the slc265

I'm actually torn between some rainbows and a higher end set of CDT's but now that I have read this I'm thinking about crystal as well. Would any of the crystal sets match the germaniums? Also, what kinda price would a 2-way 6.5 run me on here? I'm about to send a PM to 6spdcoupe but I live in Ohio, can he still help me out?

try not to compare $150 speakers against $300+ $500+ speakers. price isnt everything but it somewhat measures the capabilities of these sets.

If you dont want to spend much money get some crystal or SLC's. You cant go wrong with either one. If you want to spend more money then go ahead and buy yourself some germaniums or cdt hd-m6's. They are in different categories.
