Crystal SSCS 6 vs Rainbow SLC265

What do you guys think between Crystal SSCS 6 and Rainbow SLC265? I’m looking for something loud and clear for under $250. I’m going to power my interior speakers with a JL 450/4. It’s 150x2 for the front components, and 75 x 2 for the rear coax’s. I did a few searches and couldn’t find someone who has heard both of these.

I had a set of Focal Polyglass V1's in my last car and loved them. I had a set of Diamond Hexes before that and loved those too, just to give you a reference.

Thanks.

Dom

I would go for the Crystals because of the price. From what I read on this forum, once you start sending the Crystals 150rms or more they sound insane. And the fact that they are only like $160.

Actually...they can be found for cheaper than that shipped.

Best components for the price.

The midbass is insane.
My window rattles from it.

On the SSCS6's
Yeah, but how's the midrange? And how harsh is that tweeter? It's a hard dome iirc. I'm interested in this question too. I'm coming from diamond hexes (lacked midbass) and want to get either the sscs6 or slc265 kicks. The impression I'm getting is that the midbass on the crystals is ridiculous (only with deadened doors though), which may allow people to overlook imperfections in other areas, especially for the price; and that the rainbows will probably sound "better" from a tonal and imaging standpoint, and that the kick version will have nice midbass in ANY door.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, since one of these sets will be going in my car soon.

x2 on EVERYTHING he just said!

I really don't mind if the SLC's have a little less midbass. I'll have plenty of bass from my sub anyway. I just want loud & clear sound w/o breaking the bank. This isn't gonna to be easy.

You get what you pay for. They Crystal are pretty impressive for the price, but tonality doesnt compare to the Rainbows. The Kick version dominate the crystals, with the regular SLCs being almost dead on. I may have to order another pair of Crystal and do a comparison for you all. Or send a pair of SLCs to someone and let them do it for biasness.

It would be AWESOME if you could do either one of those two things. I really want to get one of these sets, I just don't think the crystals are going to sound as good as I want them to. Any information you could provide from a direct comparison would be great
