Crystal SSCS 6 vs Rainbow SLC265

**** so these Crystal speakers are real cheap.

I'm looking into the Rainbows right now -

does anyone feel that the Rainbow SLC265 Kicks are worlds better then the Crystals in terms of midbass? Like Upgrading from regular to kick is how much of an upgrade?

Also I think the power handling is 100W... are they power hungry though? Thinking of buying a US Acoustics 2150X that will give em 150W each.

you will be really happy with the SLC's in my opinion. they were some of the most natural sounding speakers i've owned for the price. very balanced and warm output, with a good amount of midbass. everyone that heard my SLC's when i had them were impressed, and some even bought their own set. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I've never heard the Kicks so I won't comment on that but the Midbass on the Crystals is no joke.

yeah my first pair of components was some CDT CL-61A so anythin i get now will be a big upgrade... just not sure if the extra hundred is worth it... i might just get the rainbows

yo you anywhere near queens? maybe you know some rainbow/crystal dealers

Contact Don, 6spdcoupe, he is in that region.

From my point of view, having been able to test both sets, the crystals are a good set for the money. They just are not as musical as the Rainbows. Detail is also lacking imo. The tweeters were not harsh, but sounded a little over extended. Again, they are a good speaker for the money. If you crave more from your speakers, Rainbows there. If you just want kickbass, you can call on Crystal.

yeah this is rough... i may be flipping a coin on this decision. also considering the new pioneer premiers.
In the install's I heard, the Crystal's came out ahead in midbass.

But, the tweeters are harsher with the Crystals, while the Rainbow's were warm.

Although, I just used my HU to turn down the tweeter range freq's and it sounds great. They are not harsh at all for a titaniun tweeter.

It's up to you. I would go with what is cheaper, since they are soo close.

how do any of these compare to my DLS MS6? I really like em I was thinking of upgrading to Germaniums in a little bit if I can afford them but curious how the crystal's and SLC sound compared to my MS6?

yea it seems they are real close - were you talking about the Kicks here though?

not so sure about the titanium tweeter too i guess, but the Pioneer 880PRS I have should definitely be able to get them to sound good.
