Those are the second series of them. Can tell by the backplate. The first used the same motor as the Audiomobile Mass subs. TC Sounds built those motors. Still great subs and a pr will get loud on 1500watts.

My brother has a CMPX2 12", its a beast!

It still running like a charm, when sounddomain use to sell it, i think only had 2 left, when he bought it.... Was like $350 i think....

I pulled over one day and some guy in showed me his friends '96 Eclipse with a pair of 15" MTX 8000's, sounded pretty nice, then he showed me his 3 12" Crystal's just like those, in a Navigator...sounded real nice. He thought the brand was Panasonic and the model was Crystal....probably didn't know what was goin on since he was smokin a roach.

Nice find, I loved my CMP's.

One of the few drivers that really shines in a sealed enclosure. I was fiend for these and the Audiomobile Mass subs back in the day.

The Haxo subs are just a rebadged version of the Crystal mobilesound subs. The Crystal CMP=Haxo LXU, the Compx2=LXO. Slightly different cosmetically but still the same beast...great sounding beast I might add. I have owned a handful of Audiomobile subs and absolutely love underhung designs. I have also heard quite a few CMPs and they sounded great as well. Elemental Designs was selling Haxo subs for a while including the LXU(underhung) versions. They can also custom build subs using Haxo/Crystal parts. I have inquired about having my two Audiomobile Mass underhung motors rebuilt as a pair of underhung 15s using Haxo baskets, cones and soft parts. They said they could do it and at about $150 each including shipping. I say give ED a call and have them rebuild them for you and have yourself one hell of a pair of subs for far less $$ than anything esle out there. You will be hard pressed to find a pair of subs with that kind of SQ and output for the $$ you will have to spend to get those rebuilt. The only other designs out there that are as linear would be the TC sounds developed LMS drivers(used by a handful of audio companies) and the BL^2 designs used by a handful as well. Both of those options would almost certainly cost more. Congrats on a good deal.

Shop in oregon that I buy all my Powerbass stuff from used to be a Crystal Dealer (were I got my 5 orignal Crystal 600.2t amps.

Anyway he built a car for his daughter that had 4 Crystal CMPx2 15's and 2 strapped XA-3000d Walled inside of an 91 ford escort.

Car was loud as sh*t. He still has some CMP's and CMPx2s around brand new.

Crystal made some good stuff back in the day.

Look into the SDX line from CSS. I think their prices might surprise you.
