Crutchfield recommended amp crossover settings...

I never noticed this but while doing research on an amp, i noticed the picture crutchfield uses has the all the gain and crossover settings on the amp in pretty much the places I would use. What do you guys think? Intentional by them or a fluke?

Gain just over 1/4 up

LP freq at about 100

The two DBO settings about where I would try them at...

It's an infinity 1211a. I bought the older 1210a version which is coming to me

Means nothing. The position of the gains and crossovers is neither intended nor a recomendation. The proper position for your gains and crossovers is install and component dependent.

I don't know. It looks spot on to me. Gain, LP and boost all look like they are in reasonable and good positions that I probably will try out when I install this amp. Since the amp is actually more power than i need, i dont have to worry about getting the most out of the gain anyways, so about 3/4 is what i planned on doing.

My theory is I think they used it first before they took pictures of it and that is how their audio techs had set everything because i know they do alot of hands on research there.

Compare it to this picture of another of the amps they sell at cruthcfield, everything is all minimum.

I cannot recall ever running an amp @ 3/4 gain - even when I was using HUs with only 1.8v preouts...

I suppose if you set the gains properly using a DMM and that's where it ends up being, then fine, but... well.... neither of my two current amps are set that high with my monoblock being almost at minimum (and my 12" gets loud for what it is there)

I think those pictures are for illustrative purposes only to show you the unit itself and its associated controls rather than a guide to setting those controls.

The picture isn't recommending anything. As stated above, all settings change from system to system. There is no "universal" setting for any amplifier that will work perfectly on any given setup.

this thread is funnies, you cant look at a picture of an amp and where the settings are and assume that this is how they need to be set when you install it. If this was the case there would be NO settings on any amps. You need to do some reading bud, there are so many variables when adjusting an amp. Read the amplifier settings and amp gains tuitorial. Theres just too much to list in this thread.

The point of the thread was i found something that I thought was interesting and a possible recommendation by crutchfield , it wasn't to suggest that amps have universal settings.

Everything you JonJt and Krown are saying is OBVIOUS information
