Jo0 drive to DeMan's house, he drive to airpoart, and we all flyz to bahama.Let me know when...I drive to FL. The rest is up to jo0.
Nothing wrong with a media center, but what you are asking for is a media server. A way to archive and play from indefinitely. For that duty you need redundancy unless you enjoy ripping discs again after spending a ton of time doing it already lol.I think this is starting to get out of my price range...Maybe I should put the blu-ray on hold...but am still interested in building a media center of some sort.
We only need one big boy.Sho. The boat has 4 king size beds on it yo.
ZOMG!Jo0 drive to DeMan's house, he drive to airpoart, and we all flyz to bahama.
We'll have to wait till the rents die for that. Poppa don't like the gays.We only need one big boy.
Yes this is the idea. You build the media server and place it out of the way somewhere then build cheap "client" units that connect to the server. Media center even has options for this. They call the client computers "media extenders" They don't need much except enough to play back media and everying is stored on the server.I see.
The problem is escalating costs....
It appears I will be limited to strictly DVD playback (@ 1 TB). I cannot imagine filling a large case with giant HDs.
Although if I could serve two rooms with this via remote, that would be pretty f'in nifty.
Say I could "share" this server with both the bedroom and the living room. Using a remote in each room to control the server. Like I was in my BR and wanted to watch a movie...just use the remote, pick a movie, and enjoy. Same goes for the living room. What I would need then (in my imagination) is a "box" to point the remote at (one in each room) that linked to the severs. It would be like that "ON DEMAND" comcast offers, but of movies, music, etc on the server in my house.
I bet it is like that thing I saw for HP....except it needed a keyboard and mouse, and not just a remote.
