Continuing my question from HT here:
If I bought this:

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=357918&highlight=xbox

and then bought the RAM and HD.

Since it needs a video card, I can get video card that has HDMI out, correct? This will allow me to rip DVDs to the HD for playback on the television.
Um good luck with all that. I don't know if you can get an HDMI video card fo it. It is a laptop.

Not lonly that but if the VC is unseating and wifi button is caved in, it more than likely has been dropped one too many times. I'd pass and build a cheap desktop from new parts. Don't buy headaches, flip.

Stop trolling too.

BTW, if you plan on countering with "I can't afford to build a new desktop" or "that would make 101 things" or "I am having trouble getting my winky played with", then stick with putting DVDs in your DVD player and hitting play and STFU!

Some of those video cards I seen on newegg have a remote. I bet that doesn't control the screen though...
I'd think I wouldn't really need the keyboard in the living room...just a wireless mouse when I wanted to watch.

I see now why that place charges $2,500 for this thing. It's a bunch of headaches.
Some video cards made for WMC come with WMC remotes and it controls the screen and is all you need when it is setup.

If I told you what I wanted it to do, could you come up with a list of parts? I don't have/want internet or gaming on computer. All I want it to do is one thing. Rip and playback DVDs.
I would like to do blu-ray, but not if it is going to take all day.I would like the capacity to rip 500 movies (I doubt I ever do, but that is the capacity I desire)

Is HDMI or S-Video out not an option anymore? I will have to check to see if my TV has DVI. I think it looks like the monitor "out". If I do regular DVDs S-Video out will work because it will transfer it correctly. I already have a video card that will do this. However, I don't know if any video card will go into any computer. I was trying to surf computer via TV at my parents and my TV sucks on internet. Will it also **** for movies?
If setup correctly movies and TV will look fine. Surfing is shitty. Internet gfx and fonts weren't designed with TV viewing from a distance in mind. That is why special MEdia Center OS were made. To make them TV friendly for use with a remote.

So $800 and I can download both blu-ray and DVD, have a remote to control it.
AND

I can incrementally fund it (ie buy it pieces at a time).
I forgot the OS which for ease I would go with Windows Vista Ultimate, but if you want to learn something use mythubuntu.

BTW Blu ray rip will take 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on movie content.

Standard DVD will take about 15 min.

oh ya and you said RIP and never mentioned burning Blu ray, so that is just a BRD ROM. You can't burn to blu ray with it, but it will rip to HD.

I also through in a TV card because you might as well add PVR function to the unit too.

WITH the OS and a Blu Ray burner expect the price to be 1200.

I would have both a ROM and a burner, so you can just do discto dic if you burn. Instead of jockeying the discs in one drive.
