The problem today is most "salesman" are scripted. They use what demograpics say works to make a "script" for them to follow. Most slaesmen during bad times don't make is because of this. Only the unconventional "I'll be dammned what the book or sales manager says" sales personnel make it. He is holdng onto text book plays his manager has approved. During most times these plays work. In time like now, you need an unconventional thinker and listenr to sell ANYTHING.So, I went by another car lot today. The car salesman asks me for contact information and I give it to him. He then asks how I heard about their dealership.
I tell him that I drive by it several times a week. He says, "come on, my boss will flip out if I put that down. He spends a lot of money on advertising."
I say, "fine, if you don't like my answer then put down whatever the hell you want to. I don't give a shit."
He laughs nervously and I say, "seriously, I don't know why you even bother asking me if you don't want to know the truth."
WTF is wrong with these assholes? They all play this little game where they try to make the customer feel responsible for management's satisfaction with them.
