Right now I Have a soundstream 200s hooked up to my 2 12 inch visonik subwoofers. I'm looking at a 1100watt crunch amp (the GPV 1100) I have heard positive and negative things about crunch. Do you think this would be an upgrade from my current amp set up? What about crunch would you say go with them or avoid them all together? Basically what I want to do is make my subs sound better and hit harder. Thanks

Well 2 years ago i had a Crunch pushing 1k RMS@ 1 ohm. It was a beast and i loved it. But this new crunch i have kinda upsets me. I don't know what they changed but blah.

I too would like to know how the GPV line works, was looking into it.

amp wont make ur subs sound better. if your subs sound isnt good enough, u will need more sound quality oriented subs.

i personally wouldnt use crunch amps. but i have never used them

if u want a budget amp brand, look at mb quart. people around here have said nothing but good about them

So maybe I should look to find an older crunch amp instead of buying new? or just **** it up and pay the 80 bucks and if it blows i have my soundstream to fall back on? lol

I should have said it differently. My subs arent bad at all (for the price) I was just wondering if a bigger and better amp would make them hit harder and sound better. I care more about the hitting harder part because my subs sound fine now they just dont hit as hard as I'd like haha

Dont do thatha, waste of a good 80 bucks. Save alittle longer and get nicer amp.

that amp will do like 500w, just a fyi
Yeah, 500w Peak. Just because it's a quality oldschool amp doesn't mean it does double rated power. Me and Geoff have been through more than 5 o/s Soundstream amps, not one of them felt like more than rated power.

OP...keep your SS amp for your speakers, sell your subs and get something better, and look into MB Quart Onyx/Discus amps.

Also are you using a shop bought box? i couldnt believe the difference it makes between a custom built box specced for your subs instead of those generic ones you can buy for 30 bucks.. iv always hated ported subs till i made one /w a design that was givin to me. even my half *** contructed job is slammin like crazy

ported will increase SPL dramatically. problem is u have to build it, or pay someone to build it for you. so if u dont know how, or dont have the tools, u might be stuck paying a good penny. though might not cost as much as a good amp

And unlike sealed boxes, they can produce continuous bass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
