x2 Creditors are not obligated to work w/ the credit counseling people. It is always best to just call them and tell them you are willing to work it out with them. Most of the time they will work with you. If you don't get what you are looking for than escalate it to a supervisor and don't back down. The best way to get out from under it is, once you pay something off, put whatever the amount of that payment was towards your next account plus that accounts existing min. payment, and so forth. Start w/ the account that has the highest minimum payment to balance ratio. It makes a snowball effect and helps pay things off quicker.
