the plexi glass over the wood / metal finish would be cool. Plexi glass is semi-expensive though. I'm not sure on the exact cost but when me and dave (monte_carlo97) did my build in, we put plexi on top of the false floor. we got it for free but he said it was expensive sh*t if you were to buy it at a hardware store or something.

the only hard thing about diamond plate would be cutting the circle. you'll either need a plasma cutter, or a metal cutting blade for a jig (which i'm not sure exists). maybe some routers can cut metal?

The carbon fiber sounds cool... but then again... the pics of it... look like ***.. and makes me not wana get that...

the one thing about the diamond plate... is that its heavy and will be expensive to ship

actually when you are looking at the pics of the karbon fiber, it is the material its self, with out the resin. if you have seen anything that is karbon fiber as a finished product, that is what it looks like when done. all except they have different colors

I was going to cover an old box in diamond plate. Home Depot sells the steel diamond plate, but it's insanely expensive. I think it was going to be almost $350 just to cover my box. There was a guy on EBay selling aluminum diamond plate for fairly cheap, but I ended up just leaving my box bare wood.
