crackeling sound in one of my mids

that is a possibilty or a tinsel lead hittin the cone, could use some electrical tape and carefully tape the speaker leads so if they hit the cone they won't make that crackling sound, i did that with one of my rear 6 x 8's i used to have. worked very well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

putting felt on the cone would add weight to the cone thus changing numerous things about the driver as well as cause non-linear movement..depending on how long the tinsels are (if it really is tinsel slap) you could try glueing them down as supa c did with his aa poly mids.

doesnt sound like tinsel slap to me though as it is only from one speaker. take the mid out and test it to see if it truely is tinsel slap.

put a gasket between the speaker and the plastic piece, thats what i did, so much tighter, and no more leaks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I had the same problem with one of my tweeters. It was an intermittent type of problem. Checked all wiring, swapped channels and cleaned RCA's, etc. Turned out to be a broken connection in my crossover. A little solder and I was good to go. These were Cantons, not Rainbow.
