COURT! Anyone been for serious charges? Got first date comin up, no lawyer

I have my first court date coming up, I believe youre first appearance is just to say guilty or not guilty right and they set an actual court date for you?

No your first appearance will be to establish your legal counsel. You'll either have a lawyer walking in or you'll have a public defender appointed to you if your financial situation dictates such.

You won't be asked to enter a plea until you lawyer up.

Here is what I would do.

Take the PD, they will drop the gun thing as it was a pellet gun. If you have no priors and your 'few' pills were not like 50 pills just one or two then tell them you have a drug problem go through the system and get a continued without a finding in the end after you complete probation and your 'rehab'

If I were you I would have either tossed that shit out or tucked it in my ***/balls. I been lucky enough to never get a K9 to sniff me so you always end up with the possibilty of that but around here the odds are minimum

DO go alone, Don't listen to the idiot who said Don't go alone, Show the judge you are independent & willing to accept your charges tell them you forgot all about that pellet gun in your vehicle & Tell the judge the weed was your's & you know you shouldn't have had it in the first place. Usually go's smooth if your honest.

Did you tell him the pellet gun was there or did you tell him nothing was in the car? If you lied to him you're going down for concealed weapon, even if it was a pellet gun.

ur lucky it was a pellet gun they wil prob let u off for that just tell em u forgot it was in the car u used it 3 weeks earlierwhy would u ride around with a pellet gun???

X is a serious charge some states do per pill charges so look into the laws for ur state for possesion

in FL i know if i get caught with my gun and someone has drugs in my car even tho not mine min 3 years prison and i have a concealed liscense

very serious here in arkansas. Even with xanax. Each one you have possession of without a RX is an automatic felony for each individual pill. SO I can just imagine how X would be dealt with.

you need to talk to the asst. DA, and see what he offers you. i would go for , Drop the gun charge, and ill plead on the drugs.Both of those drug charges are slaps on the wrist, but the gun charge is a felony. Thats a big nut to crack.

If they dont want to play, take it to trial, and fight the drug charges too.

That totally depends on the state. Im pretty sure x is a felony in any state. Weed is a felony in most states, and possession of a concealed is usually a misdemeanor.

Scary some of the logic people have in this thread...we should schedule a field trip to the felony division of any court house and see if its better to go alone or have counsel present.
