Could I hit 150 dee bees with this setup?

Hey there fellas!

I went to Lone Star Throwdown last weekend and metered exactly 145 at 43hz. I REALLY want to get up to the 150 mark.

I currently have three hds200 15's walled off in my civic hatchback on 1500w of power. I have an XS D5100 up front with a 140amp alt.

Let's say I upgraded to about 3000w of power. Specifically an SAZ-2500d. Annndddd added an XS D5100 in the back... Do you think I could reach the 150 mark with that much power?

I plan on driving at 1.3ohms daily and .66 ohms (I think that's the second option if I wanted to go lower?) for comps.

Thanks guys!

Dude this is basic everything being equal a doubling of power equals +3db so same subs same setup 148. Don't believe me look it up.
I've heard of that and have read about that before. However that is a simply mathematical theory, no? With car audio or even most general sound environments there are way too many variables to account for decibel increase and decrease. I just wouldn't assume that I would be exactly at 148db after doubling the power. Yes, it makes sense to an extent, but I'm not one to think that a theory like that is how loudness works 100% of the time when it comes to this sort of stuff.

I would see that as being more of a 'rule of thumb' sort of deal. So MAYBE around 148. Could be more a decibel or two more; could be a decibel or two less. That's how I look at it.

Rule of thumb yes but what are you changing besides amps and batteries? If your going from exactly 1500 to exactly 3000 expect about 3db, now dfferent woofers, different enclosure, yeah i could see your point. Being that amps are different and not just two of the same this could yeld more or less. But 2db is harder to come by the more power you're using

By no means do I disagree with what you're saying, I guess I'm just a wishful person and was hoping to get some responses that would reassure me of breaking 150 lol.

I still have a bit more to seal up on my wall. Maybe after a complete seal and rounding off the port wall more it will help a bit.

Not sure what those subs will take for a burp but I'd be looking at more then a 2.5kw amp. Even wired down with rise on a burp you won't be getting all that much power.

Where does vehicle peak at? Might try raising box tuning also...

I couldn't tell ye what my honda peaks at. :/

And if I wired the subs down to .66 ohms on that SAZ-2500d, it would probably see around 3500w or so right? Those little hds200's are only rated at 600 a piece. I will adjust the port just slightly whenever I get time. There are a few imperfections I need to adjust so that may help. I'm also hoping after the wall is 100% sealed off (theres some air escaping around where my seat belts are) that I will get a bit of an increase. I plan on getting some seat belt harnesses just to get rid of the stock seat belts. Little things to be done here and there and hopefully I will break 150.

If you have 3x rise at your burp freq you'll be at 1.8ohm with that amp, not a lot of power. 2-3x rise is pretty normal...

Might need to step up to HDS300's and more power for that 50+

Poop. I just can't afford any major upgrades for a while is all. Really trying to control my impulses on buying stuff for my car because I need to get my priorities straight. There's always next year!

my friend had a civic walled and his vehicle peaked at like 52hz. try burping at a higher freq

Please post pics of your current wall/system.

Also, what SPL Competition Organization hosted "Lone Star Throwdown"...I'm guessing USACI?

3db is a perfect scenario... won't gain more than that by doubling power.. your going to need major changes in box or woofers as well as more power for a 150.

I almost gained 2 db messing with amp gains, visor, seat, door, trunk orientations. I burped a low 145db my first burp, and squeezed a 147 out my daily box in the trunk with a single 15". Walled off in a hatch with more power it's very feasible. Also you'd gain a bit by running strapped amps. I got 2 crossfire bmf 1700ds for sale that you can run in 0-1000 mod in usaci for what your gonna pay for a sundown. They'll put out more power than a saz3500

There is a really cool vid on dc's web sight called "what it takes to hit 150" check it out.

I was looking at customer reviews of the jl audio 13w6 on the online car stereo web site and this is what 1 guy said he did to get 150dbs outta his jl audio 13w6 lol>

"I had two 13W6v2 hooked up to a Memphis M-class 1100D amp, and controlled by a Pioneer Premier Head Unit. They settled in and blended nicely with the highs and created such a full soundstage. But when you wanted to turn them up and really perform, they were ready as I 147.3 with just one at 600 watts and could hit mid 150s with both of them. Definitely worth the money."

That is his exact quote.... I want the 13w6 that can hit 147 db all by its self with 1100 rms lol!!!!

I made a build log a while back that I have failed to keep updating lol. Yes it's usaci. http://www.caraudio.com/forums/car-audio-build-logs-cars-trucks-suvs/598270-2004-honda-civic-si-type-r-budget-wall-build-4.html

Pm'd you. I'm actually interested in these amps. Just don't think I have enough money for what you would want. Maybe we can work something out.
