In Roxboro, NC, we just got the Chevy Impala.

Also: Explorers, Crown Vics, Intrepeds (drug cops)

State Troopers have: Jeeps, Camaros, and Crown Vics.

In Hawaii, I knew this one cop that had a modded 85 Mustang. The exterior was custom with body kit and all, but I only "heard" that the motor was modded.

The range of different vehicles used by the police force usually is quite varied for reasons you can only guess. Our county has gone from Caprices, Impalas, Ford Taurus, Chevy Luminas to Jeep Cherokees to Ford Crown Vics, and they had a 93 Mustang for awhile too. All of these vehicles are esentially the same as for their utility/speed/effectiveness except for the Jeep, which has 4x4 capability and is MUCH slower than the Intrepids etc and is usually used for the drug taskforce and the K-9 units.

I think the po-po probably shops for their vehicles based on price. The price on the Crown Vic went up in 98 when they changed the bodystyle and added hp, so they changed the vehicles they used to Chevy Impalas. Dodge intrepids recently went down in price, a year or so after the new style came out so they all use Intrepids now (here anyway).

I've only seen highway patrol units use Camaros, and that was near Springfield, Il.

As for weird cop cars, on a Ponitac Fiero website I saw a Fiero cop car... Hella gay idea if you ask me.

we have a tricked out wrx, H2, Camaro, Intrepid,normal cop cars, everything here. they will come and rev there motor at u in some ricer car let u pull ahead and flip on there lights

we got impalas and crown vics and the town over has intrepids, crown vics, and a tahoe or 2... also a chevy tracker

In Sac-town they have everything. It seems as though captians and high ranking people have the nice big SUV's though

Lots of variety here, but today I saw a new Neon that they just got. I laughed my *** off. What a useless car for a cop car. I could outrun that thing even in my Saturn.

I just saw on msn.com a few days ago that cops in Italy got a brand new Lamborghini Murciealago (sp).

Here in mexico they use nissan tsurus, i think in US that thing wasn't sold, and won't be sold haha, and thats for normal cops who make tickets. Another kind of cops uses Ford F-250 trucks. and like the "equivalent" to the FBi, they use chevy suburbans.
