So i got a "new" to me 2010 Land Rover LR4 the other day and unfortunately the the navi system is a bit "out of date" compared to the newest version and some of the more "sync"d cars and trucks out there.
Basically the car came with an in the center console hook up for and iPhone 4 (using a proprietary cable from Land Rover $119!!!) and a USB port.
Since you cant switch out the Land Rover iPhone 4 proprietary cable for an iPhone 5 you need to either purchase the Apple 30 pin to Lightening adapter (which is $39.99) and then have your phone hooked up in the center console... The on dash touch screen controls the rest.
Sure that's great and all but I like to access my phone for texts / email etc... dont worry I dont actually drive, i dont even have a license, so im not texting and driving.
If you hook up the lightening usb cable to the USB port, it will charge but gives you a device error.
Off the google / ebay I went searching and that is when i found this:
Basically if emulates an iphone 4 port and broadcasts a bluetooth audio streaming signal. $44 later and about 2 weeks since it comes from Korea I had the device in hand. Plugged it into the Land Rover iPhone 4 cable, paired it with my iPhone 5 and boom! Now i can control all the music on my phone / soundcloud / youtube / pandora right from the iPhone5 and it plays through the LR4 sound system!
So anyone with a car that has a proprietary iphone 4 cable and only bluetooth phone streaming check this thing out.
It also works for broadcasting bluetooth from docks...
