This is my first post, but I've spent many hours reading and searching. Great forum! I'll try to keep the question clear...
I have a Kenwood x997 HU that has decent eq, crossover and T/A controls. I'll be running 6.5" midbass (Hertz) in the kick panels, 3-4" mids (undecided on brand) and JL tweets in the doors. Planning to use a JL 300/4 I have on a shelf with a passive crossover between the mids and tweets. An SA-8 and JL XD600/1 will be in the trunk. No rear fill. I'd like the ability to control speakers individually from the HU if possible (for ease of on-the-fly tweaks and time alignment). I have an JBL MS-8 in my truck I can pull out, but I'd rather not.
The HU has 6 outputs (fronts, rears, subs). Can I feed my mid/tweets from the "front" inputs and the midbass from the "rear"? That would give me the channels I need, but I can't find out from searching if that's a no-no. As a side benefit, I can adjust mid-bass with the fader... lol. I know I can split the front RCA and use the amp's crossover, but I'm concerned about loss of fidelity and having to keep running to the trunk to play with things.
As a secondary question, I'll have 75W available for the mids/tweets. Any suggestions on a not-insane-price mid?
